Update: 31 October 2015
Nepal currently has no legislation protecting surrogates, intended parents or the children that result.
On Friday, September 18, 2015, the Nepali government banned surrogacy in Nepal. Surrogacy services for foreigners are no longer permitted in Nepal.
Unfortunately, most Surrogacy Agencies selling surrogacy into Nepal are not located in Nepal. As a result, they have no control or influence over political decisions made by the Nepali legislature or government. FTS understands that most of these Agencies have closed Nepali operations and some are relocating to, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
